Fairytales and Fables

The man and the Wood Fable
A man asked trees to donate him their branchs. When he got teh branches he fixed his axe with the wood and chopped down all of the trees.
Moral of Aesops Fable: Then the Trees saw how foolish they had been in giving their enemy the means of destroying themselves

The Fisher Fable
A man played his bag pipes for fish hoping they would dance for him, when they didn't dance he cast out his net and caught several of them.
Moral of Aesops Fable: When you are in a man's power you must do as he bids you

The Fox and the Cat Fable
the fox was boasting to the ccat of all his clever ways to escape his enemys, as dogs approached them the cat fled up a tree and hid but the fox couldn't make up his mind on which escape route to take so he was killed.
Moral of Aesops Fable: Better one safe way than a hundred on which you cannot reckon

The Goose with the Golden Eggs Fable
A man found that a goose of his laid golden eggs, as his greed grew he cut the goose open only to find there were no eggs inside of it.
Moral of Aesops Fable: Greed oft o'er reaches itself

The Young Theif and His Mother Fable
A young man had been caught stealing but blamed his mothers for his actions because she never punished him for stealing as a youth so he never learned that it was wrong.Moral of Aesops Fable: Train up a child in the way he should go; and when he is
old he will not depart therefrom


The Tortise and the Hair
A hare challenges a tortise to a race then naps during the race, during his nape the tortise won the race.
Moral of Aesops Fable: Plodding wins the race.

The Vain Jackdaw
jupiter told all teh birds that he would make the most beautiful bid king, the ugly jackdaw took all the feathers of other birds and wore tehm himself but when jupiter saw him the birds took their featheres back and the Jackdaw remained just a jackdaw.
Moral of Aesops Fable: Hope not to succeed in borrowed plumes.

The Theif and the House-Dog
A theif brought meat to pacify a dog with while he robbed the house but the dog told him off.
Moral of Aesops Fable: He who offers bribes needs watching, for his intentions are not honest

The Laborer and the Nightingale
A laborer caught a nightingale but the bird talked his way out with false promises.
Moral of Aesops Fable: Never believe a captives promise

The Goat and the Vine
A goat was eating a vine and the vine promised revenge.
Moral of Aesops Fable: Retribution is certain

The Sick Lion
In this fable a lion pretended to be sick and when animals came to pay him their respect he would devour them. The Fox noticed that animals were missing, so wwhen he visited the lion he kept at a distance so he would not be devoured as the others had.
The moral of this fable was that he who learns from others misfortune is a wise.
